The technical use of Wind energy - despite the common use for mechanical power in ancient times - is a relatively young industry, but one of the most expanding in terms of installed capacity.
Over the last decade, the global installed capacity has increased with 30% per year to about 60.000 MW at the end of 2005. Wind energy is clean, free and abundant. Started in Denmark, Germany and Spain with support of the national governments the technology now has matured to provide energy solutions for all parts of the world.
